I · A small chair

A studio that fits one person at a time.

Most salons are a kind of weather: phones ringing, three blowouts at once, a stranger in the next chair. LOUIE is the opposite of that. It is a one-chair room in the North End of Halifax, lit by a single window, with one client booked for one long appointment. You are the only person being cut that hour.

That changes the work. There is space to ask the questions that actually matter, to look at how your hair sits when it dries, to leave the chair without the feeling of being moved through. This site is a small notebook about how that goes.

II · The hour

Not a treatment list. A conversation, then a haircut.

Every appointment opens with twenty minutes of just looking and talking. We walk through what your hair is doing now, what it has done to you, and what you are quietly wishing it would do. Only after that do the shears come out. The result is hair that holds its shape on a Tuesday morning at home, not just under salon light.

III · Colour, slowly

Colour the way weather changes a wall.

We work in muted, lived-in colour. Soft mauves, warm umbers, low-saturation copper, the kind of grow-out you can leave alone for ten weeks without it looking like a regret. No high-contrast foiling. No crisp lines. Colour that reads as slightly different light, not a costume change.

V · The room

North End Halifax, a single window, one chair.

The studio sits in a quiet stretch of the North End. Plants in the window. A radio on low. Cold water, not cucumber water. You can come in five minutes early and read a magazine, or you can come in exactly on time and we start. Either is fine.

Booking is by email or by message on Instagram. We hold one chair per slot. If you cannot make it, just tell us a day ahead so we can offer the time to someone else.
